Beginning in January 2021, Chris Wolak is hosting a 3.5 year reading challenge of Willa Cather’s short stories. This is phase two of Chris’s project to read all of Cather’s short stories and to invite others along for the read! To make it very accessible all the stories are available online at the Willa Cather Archive. From Chris’s blog:
The fortytwo (42!) stories in this phase span from 1892, when Cather was a student at the University of Nebraska, to 1919, the year after she published her fourth novel, My Antonia. I’ll share a reminder post on the second Wednesday of the month and then a reaction post on the fourth Wednesday. Readers are encouraged to share their own reaction to the story on that post and engage with the responses of other readers, if so moved.
I am not sure how many stories I will read and those I do I will post here with a link to the discussion on Chris’s blog. I am looking forward to learning more about Cather through her short stories and as I continue reading her novels.
