Happy Thanksgiving

Well, that took longer than I thought!

I will be back next Tuesday with regular posts. And I look forward to spending time at “your place” poking around to see what I have missed.

It is a good time for me to remember what is important besides my health and the health of those I love. And books and blogging and friends who read and blog are certainly high up on my thankful list. Thank you.

As always Nature makes its mark on my heart with great thanksgiving and gratitude for my eyes to see and my legs to carry me through its fields, trails, animal encounters and starry night skies.

The Peace of Wild Things

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
