My Extended Blogging Break

I did not expect to take such a long break, but with all the changes in my household it was a natural outcome. I am still reading, but will not return to blogging just yet.

I am making my way back by slowly checking in on your blogs. I know I have missed a lot and can’t wait to see what everyone has been up to!

I have just finished my 9th Edith Wharton novel, I’m in the middle of book 6 (The Return of the Native) of my Thomas Hardy year and my readalong year of the “Horrid Novels” from Northanger Abbey continue to fascinate me. My slow read of Purucker’s, The Esoteric Tradition and new attempt at Rudolph Steiner’s, Theosophy continue…er, slowly and I can’t wait to get to the library now that it is open, for some contemporary fiction.

Wishing you all a happy and safe summer full of fun and the joy of good books!

I caught an Osprey right in the middle of the sky!

  1. The blogging muse comes and goes for me too, at the moment she’s gone!
It’s lovely to read your posts however often you’re able to write. Have a lovely summer and look forward to reading from you soon!

  2. My break has been very much longer than yours, Laurie and I fully appreciate the challenges which can make it difficult to resume a regular pattern again or even just post the occasional few thoughts. For myself, I’ve just recently realised that I’m seeing the possibility of returning more fully. After many months of trying and failing to motivate myself I find the blogging muse, and the space to explore it, has crept up of its own volition. I didn’t need to try at all. Of course, all may change again. I shall look forward to seeing your posts as and when they appear and hope that is all going well as you adjust to your new circumstances.

    1. Yes, that’s it! The blogging muse used to be so strong and when she hides it is hard for me to find the motivation. And then she starts poking at me, which is what is happening now. Hopefully, as you suggest, this is an organic process with it’s own time frame that we just have to accept and be patient with. Thank you…<3

  3. Yes, a steady regimen of blog posting takes its toll, as I’m finding myself, and I don’t blame you for taking a (hopefully temporary) break, Laurie. Thankfully you’re continuing to read — I know several bloggers who’ve found the stresses and strains of the last year and more has dulled their appetite for this usual consolation. Take your time, and we’ll see you here when you’ve regained the urge!

How lovely you have ospreys there, even at a distance I can see the telltale wing silhouette familiar only from the screen, not in real life. Lucky you!

    1. (I just moved this comment to its proper place. Gee, I am rusty at blogging)!

Yes, I think for all of us, even those like me who stayed physical well, the pandemic has taken a toll in one way or another that we are only now beginning to understand.

That Osprey sighting was so special. They are a bit shy, so when spotted it’s a great day!
