Thank you All for your good thoughts and optimism. My surgery is on Friday and I cannot wait to have my eyeball back in good working order!
With age-related cataracts, both eyes are usually done one after the other, but in my case only my right eye has a cataract. It will be interesting to see how this will effect my overall eyesight without glasses. At present, I don’t wear them to read. I won’t be fully recovered for a month.
At any rate, the books are piling up and calling my name!

Laurie, I hope it all goes well. My granddad said having it down was like going from old, regular TV to HD vision π

Success! Your granddad is right. The clouding of the lens is slow enough that you forget how bright is the world!

A coworker of mine recently had cataracts surgery and she said it was one of the best health-related decisions she’s ever made. I’m sure your procedure will go well and you’ll feel the same in no time. After all, that’s a massive pile of books to catch up on!

I agree with your coworker. The fear is that it is your eye, but the procedure is so quick and the recovery almost immediate. Am loving reading again!

When I took off the eye patch, I had to stop myself from going on and on about how bright all the colors are, so I know your dad’s thrill!
